SANDY SHORE : Excited about our upcoming stop in Rio de Janeiro tomorrow, we prepare our 2/15 artist and event marketing campaigns for SmoothJazz.com and organize production with Scott O’Brien back home. I’ve recorded all of the radio commercials outside of the home studio for the first time on my MacBook Pro on Logic and I uploaded the audio to Scott to put on the air.
The Internet connection on board the ship is satellite… but the upload was fairly painless and pretty quick… the audio pieces were small, only :60 seconds each, so all worked out very well.
We are trying to be timely and available to our clients while we take this journey, but it’s a challenge to maintain the mindset required to run the company like we do in the home office. The further down into South America we sail, the more challenging this becomes. Fortunately, the systems and relationships that we’ve developed over the past 10 years are proving to serve us well… the passion and hard work we’ve put into these Internet radio stations are carrying us through and I remain optimistic that our small team of exceptionally talented individuals can carry us through while we explore ourselves and this incredibly unique part of the world.

Plus, there’s always Plan B… to work my ass off when I get home to make up for whatever gaps may happen along the way. Plan B is really Plan A, it’s not like I ever stop working… but I’m willing to tell you that as of right now, my priorities are changing down here. ~ss

DONNA KAY PHILLIPS : I may have mentioned this earlier, maybe not... this travel log is best experienced while listening to SmoothLounge.com Radio, trust me, the vibe of the experience can be conveyed much better while listening to these calming unique vibey grooves.

Being in port is exhausting, especially with clogged sinus' and a tickle way down deep in your chest. We have loved Brazil so far and are very grateful for all that the last three ports have revealed to us about our world and about ourselves. It's just that between the massive amounts of sweat pouring forth from our tired bodies and the buses and the peeps, and oh there are so many of these peeps with Carnaval coming soon, there is nothing quite like that feeling of walking safely back onto your sailing vessel. That vessel that swiftly takes you back to the solid blue line.

The feedback we've received so far on this travel log is in consensus - everyone tells us that we need to rest, and we do. So I want to thank our enormous network of friends and family that have altered their own lives to make this a possibility for us. It is for you that we take time out to keep track of our experiences because we so want to relate the adventure in it's enormity to you - something a dinner time iPhoto slide show just couldn't convey. So thank you so much and please enjoy coming along with us on this travel log. We think about all of you with every new encounter and magnificent view. -dkp
