Mar 9 - At Sea

SANDY SHORE : It all comes down to love doesn’t it? Loving yourself is at the root of it all… if you love yourself, others will follow suit. If you’re free to love – you’re free to live. That’s the way I see it this day at sea…

Here are some reflective ramblings as we ease our way to towards the Equator on this Monday:

People come together for a variety of reasons… in my opinion; the trick is not to homogenize this reality by assigning people boxes. I believe that packaging people in some “appropriate place” flattens out melody and takes taste and texture out of opportunity. I’m using broad brush strokes here because I think this applies to so many levels of relating with others. I take people in and if they are integral to themselves and authentic, regardless of what that authenticity is, I’m in.

If I’m being honest, I’ve never enjoyed boundaries… I think that they are confining, tight and itchy. I’ve always believed that boundaries are incredibly limiting. With each passing day out here on the deep blue I’m resolved to accepting this as fact for me rather than dismissing it as a thought of youth. These many years later, I still feel this way.

I’m not saying that I don’t value respect and trust… while, embracing these values, I’m saying that I believe that it’s easy to lock yourself up in self-made, self-regulated rules that take the life out of life. It’s a safe play. Closing ours hearts to feeling, because it appears to be safe or because of concern of what you may lose, is not allowing for the possibility that, regardless of the outcome, there more than likely will be gain and growth.

Everybody has a script in their heads and my observation is that often the script is rated PG and it’s predictable, demanding and dull. I’ve never understood why most believe that you have to give up something to take something in. Love is big and love is everywhere… and it’s ours for the taking. I’m learning that you’re only free in love when you’re free to love. Start by loving yourself and watch the world fall in love with you…

To quote my girl, Stevie Nicks: “If only love comes ‘round again, it will have been worth the ride… what a ride.” ~ss
