Nov 08.2009 - Fifth Day At Sea in the Atlantic DKP : Five days of nothing but the blue line, it's been mind clearing for me and relaxing and simplifying and frankly, I could go another five no problem, but I'm wierd that way. I'm sure the crew is quite happy to have this be the last day, in fact I know they are, I talked to a few of them in crew bar last night. They've been troopers through the endless feeding frenzies in the Dining Room and Lido and High Tea and so on and on. You see, when the weather is inclimate like it was yesterday, folks stay indoors and eat. There were over 1,000 in attendance for yesterday's breakfast in the Dining Room and over 800 for lunch, this is not typical for a 7 day Caribbean cruise. The kitchen was so slammed that Ken, the Sr Maitre'd turned fish cook yesterday afternoon just to help the line cooks out. He busted his ass and he loved it, this is his passion and it's always great to see people working where they belong. Anyway, another special note, our friends in the Dining Room made a special celebration for my parents 21 year wedding anniversary last night. Ironically, it was formal night and Diane and Dad wore color coordinated outfits of white, orange and browns and the 3 layer cake, created by pastry chef Rakesh, was designed in the same color theme; it was a beautiful site. I'll post pics as soon as I get them back from the photo lab. Two special events in the last two days at sea that I will never forget. I can't express just how thankful I am for the care and respect shown to these two who have given so much to this industry and this company and whose hearts give endlessly to their friends from the years of hard work building the foundation that supports the very ship we are sailing across the Atlantic today.
