Oct 16.2009 - Naples, Italy SS : When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that’s amore… had a lovely afternoon walking up and down the hills of this Italian sea town… hustle, bustle, renovation, archeological excavating, castles, Dolce & Gabana knock-offs, espresso, Sulamerias, scooters, buses, ships… Naples is considered to be a bit of an unsavory port at times due to thievery, but we really enjoyed our day and it was totally trouble-free. Found a great little deli where we split a crusty roll with cheese and marinated zucchini. I know this Blog is starting to sound more like something for the Food Network rather than a music webzine site… but this is ITALY. Not a bad meal to be found… We captured a beautiful sunset as we soaked in one of the many outdoor hot tubs on the Carnival Dream. A delicious day and a relaxing night! ______>>_______ DKP : I know this isn't part of the plan, but it's my option to write and I'm exercising it. Last time we visited Naples, we took a hi-speed boat to Capri for a lovely thrilling ride in an open air taxi up the steep narrow hillsides of craggy rocks and lush Mediterrannean flowers, to a mountain top restaurant for stunning views and tasty fish. This time we just wanted to "be" in Naples on our own... especially having learned the lesson of the hermetically sealed tour buses in South America. I love history but having learned a lot about Pompeii and Vesuvius from years of the couch, a beer and the Discovery Channel... I understand the story as well as I need to. This tour of Europe for me has another agenda really... to imagine living here. So as I wandered, I put myself in the cafes, the bodegas, the gathering places, the sunshine, the cold corridors, the old doorways, the busy scooter filled motorways - and it all suits me just fine. The focus is different in these Euro destinations. The time spent chatting over excellent food, wine, beer and coffees is priceless to me and very very appealing. I think it's my true rhythm, the way I imagine the next steps of my life into reality. I need the space and the pace of this lifestyle where values are more on people and experiences then moving up the corporate chain. Naples was another flavor of Italy, different from Milan and Sardenga but sharing the Med life concepts, something stressed out Americans could use a little more of in my opinion. So we sat in the Naples way of life and became our artists selves again, discussing new concepts for content our boutique radio stations ... it felt molto bene! |
