Oct 31.2009 - Halloween At Sea DKP : YEAH!! This is a first. You have to understand, where I live in Pacific Grove, CA - it truly IS a ghost town, especially on Halloween. Geesh. It's not that I like dwelling in the dark side of culture, but if we're going to dress up and act silly, let's really have fun right? But now, too many things have happened to scare everyone straight and now what used to be "night out on the town" for the young turks, is now a forumalic homogenized remnant of a "holiday." I am hoping that the Carnival Dream provides the right environment for the passengers and the crew to finally do the ritual some justice. YES it was the bomb biggity bomb. It was all I hoped it would be and everyone had so much fun with the theme. The passengers and the crew went all out. An entire dining room table dressed as the Wizard of Oz characters. I can only imagine the extra luggage involved in transporting these costumes. There was a parade around the Promenade and everyone seemed to be totally in the spirit of the event. The next night was the Crew's Halloween Party in the Disco. The place packed in around 1am, filled with the most outlandish costumes. Shannon, the ship's DJ mixed a killer set and the place swelled and grooved on the dance floor. The break dancers from the Entertainment Staff led the way with an awesome danceoff which in turn got others to fill the floor. Complete with Staff photo opps, the event was a great stress reliever and chance to appreciate an American holiday in all of it's wierdness. We ended the night around 2:30am with the song "Tonght's Gonna Be A Good Night" by the Black Eyed Peas. The floor was packed and the vibe was excellent. It was a Halloween I won't forget for quite a while. |
